About This Course

In this online engineering PDH course, information is provided about ways to lower energy usage in a single-family residence. Included are discussions of home energy-use audits, weatherization, efficient heating and cooling, home design for energy efficiency, electricity saving measures, vehicle fuel savings, and resources for receiving financial assistance for implementing energy-saving improvements.

Topics: This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills: Professional energy audits and DIY energy audits Air sealing, insulation, energy-efficient new construction and additions Smart and programmable thermostats, air ducts, buying heating and cooling systems, home heating, heat pumps, home cooling, and water heating Landscaping, windows, passive solar home design, and cool roofs The smart home and utility, appliances, home office and electronics, lighting, and renewable electricity Saving money on fuel, buying and driving fuel-efficient and alternative fuel vehicles Financing, incentives, weatherization and home energy assistance. 

Intended Audience: This course is intended for civil, environmental, electrical, mechanical engineers, and other engineers whose job description may involve the saving of energy in single-family residential structures.
